Day 182

Today we drove, and tonight we dined.
It was a kind of "welcome to the family" type dinner at a fancy restaurant for my cousin's finance, Jenifer, and her family.
I had lamb for the first time. It was alright.

And now, let me explain...

There's this artist named Marcel Duchamp, and he was an avant-garde photographer. He contributed many photographs to what is known as the Dada movement, which, in short, was a burst of artistic talent that came about between 1916-1920, during WW I, which went completely against the standards of art at the time.

One of his more famous photographs from the era is know as Fountain, and it was a picture of a urinal. It was really cutting edge at the time, because nobody could ever conceive that a public urinal, in any way, shape, or form, could ever possibly be considered art. This artistic upheaval is widely considered to be one of the most major pieces in modern art, a precursor conceptual art, and an anticipation of post-modern art, which I am very fond of.

Well I'm in the bathroom at aforementioned fancy restaurant when this reoccurred to me while I was washing my hands. I though, 'hey, why not?"
It's good to take a step back and know what your predecessors did,
Or more specifically, the predecessors who helped form the things you enjoy presently.
