Day 211

There's the even split
Straight down the middle.

Day 210

When you get down to it...
It's all just dots of color.
There is no image.

(Warning: The only way to fully appreciate this picture is full-sizing it... but... uh... it's really painful on the eyes.)

Day 209

[Tuesday]

Okay, I'll be very honest right now.
The last week's worth of pictures were not validly taken.
Last week was my last tiny piece of summer before I went right back to school for a long fall semester. And... for some reason, since I knew I had to be really responsible for my well being and grades and stuff this semester, my last week was very irresponsible. In fact, I tried to do as absolutely little as possible. I sat around all day, hung out with friends all night, took bike rides, watched a lot of Flight of the Conchords... you get the idea.

Anyway, I really just didn't want to do ANYTHING.
And I did so successfully. But, to make up for this surprisingly large gap in my photos, I make a compromise. I went out on a photo shoot in the park, and I am featuring those pictures in replacement to the days I missed. Ta da!

[Tuesday]

Okay, I'll be very honest right now.
The following week's worth of pictures were not validly taken.

Day 201

Down the rabbit hole.

Sunday, August 19, 2007

Day 200

165 days left to go.
This seems like a culminating moment.
Should my photo have been more exciting? hahah.

Saturday, August 18, 2007

Day 199

I am yet again reminded of the parts of my life I don't enjoy as much.
I haven't done this in forever.
I still don't like/want to.

Day 198

Okay! Back to good standings with my 365!

This is in commemoration of my summer semester.
I did this the other day, when school ended.
This was my progress report from a couple weeks ago - I burned it in the street.

The reason I post this picture today is because not even half an hour ago, I learned that I passed my class for summer. I am (or should be) officially back on good standings with school. I am new resolve, and I somehow think this is stronger than I ever have had prior.

Also, I have nothing more to distract me from what NEEDS to be done.
There are many WANTS that surround me.
Some of these are UNCONTROLLABLE.
While others are quite CONTROLLABLE.

There's a lot of things I really want and care about.
And usually, these things are so completely out of my league they shouldn't be worth showing.
Yet, in some sort of sick irony, they're always close enough to touch - like I could take it anytime.
And there are always the specifics - the little things that spoil everything.
Usually, though, I pursue headlong - thinking "I can get anything I put my effort into getting. Nothing can stop me because I have commitment and resolve to my cause."
And because of stupid little circumstances, I've never gotten it.

This time, the thing I want is in the same situation.
My new approach is patience.
I know it's out of my league, and judging by several past experiences, the rate of failure is much higher than the rate of success. Therefore, my hypothesis is wrong, and judging by the scientific method, I should try something different. If I really want this, I'm going to stop, take a long breath, and wait for my turn.

If you don't have the ability, but you do have hope and agenda,
Your cause is worth your time.
But if you haven't been successful, just wait; you'll get your turn soon.
This is my new theory - let's test it.

Day 197

[Filler Photo]

This whole issue with not having enough pictures is because of what happened during my break of summer. After Travis moved, I was going to his house a lot, and would sometimes get sketchy on my 365 photos. I'd forget until really late at night, and end up taking dull, crappy pictures. Or, I would never find time to upload them to the site. And when I finally did get them up, I believe I miscounted a couple times in there. Ooops!

When I get a steady sleep schedule, my updates will be better.
I know I've promised myself to have a better sleep schedule millions of times,
But this time, due to other coinciding events, I think I finally have all the motivation I need.
I guess we'll see.

Day 196

Day 195

Freedom.
Today was my last day of summer semester.
I am now free for a few days.
Thank God.

I really hope I did well...

You're going to want to full view this black and white one...
Just FYI.

Day 194

The bright light beams forth, illuminating all that is good.

Tuesday, August 14, 2007

Day 193

A few days ago I was looking back on my Photo 365 as of now.
I noticed that I was very proud of my accomplishments.
I also noticed I apparently didn't upload some pictures at some point.
About three.

I'm sure I actually took pictures for the missing days, but the problem is, that I haven't the slightest clue which photos those might be, seeing that I have A CRAPLOAD of pictures on my computer.

In a few days, I'm going to do make-ups.
That way I have the proper amount without confusing myself endlessly.

Day 192

We are all equals.

Sunday, August 12, 2007

Day 191

A faceless face.

Saturday, August 11, 2007

Day 190

Forgotten, neglected, and downtrodden - here lays a penny on the ground.
There are many people living under the same circumstances - alone, with no place to call home.

But pennies are beautiful.
When we see a penny, we see a lucky token.
A diamond in the rough.
We take the time out of our day to stop, pick up, and take care of this penny.
Whether it's a lucky charm or benefit of some kind, we take care of those which couldn't make it.

Now, we must pretend those that aren't as fortunate are like the penny.
Shall we?

Friday, August 10, 2007

Day 189

A little bit of something different.

Thursday, August 9, 2007

Day 188

Retro:
Involving, relating to, or reminiscent of things past; retrospective.
+
Avant-Garde:
Unorthodox or daring; radical.
+
Contemporary:
Current; modern.
=
Post-Modern:
Reaction to or rejection of the dogma, principles, or practices of established modernism by carrying modernist styles or practices to extremes.

Wednesday, August 8, 2007

Day 187

One of those long summer days.

Tuesday, August 7, 2007

Day 186

And it will be like nothing you ever seen in your dizziest daydreams.

Monday, August 6, 2007

Day 185

Pitch, melody, harmony, rhythm, tempo, meter, timbre articulation, dynamics, texture...

Day 184

Home, sweet home.
It's good to be back.

Day 183

Tonight was the big party.
It was very fun.
I did a lot of reading.
I also made some music...

Day 182

Today we drove, and tonight we dined.
It was a kind of "welcome to the family" type dinner at a fancy restaurant for my cousin's finance, Jenifer, and her family.
I had lamb for the first time. It was alright.

And now, let me explain...

There's this artist named Marcel Duchamp, and he was an avant-garde photographer. He contributed many photographs to what is known as the Dada movement, which, in short, was a burst of artistic talent that came about between 1916-1920, during WW I, which went completely against the standards of art at the time.

One of his more famous photographs from the era is know as Fountain, and it was a picture of a urinal. It was really cutting edge at the time, because nobody could ever conceive that a public urinal, in any way, shape, or form, could ever possibly be considered art. This artistic upheaval is widely considered to be one of the most major pieces in modern art, a precursor conceptual art, and an anticipation of post-modern art, which I am very fond of.

Well I'm in the bathroom at aforementioned fancy restaurant when this reoccurred to me while I was washing my hands. I though, 'hey, why not?"
It's good to take a step back and know what your predecessors did,
Or more specifically, the predecessors who helped form the things you enjoy presently.

Day 181

...And there we stare, mesmerized by the blinding light that constricts upon us a powerful sensation of unwillingness and procrastination that resides in our very souls, turning our lives foul and loathsome. With our lack of time to feed our addiction to the powerful force, we rush through our lazy days, ruining our paths and lives just to return to that which destroys us.

I'm going to Houston tommorrow.
There's going to be a big party - my cousin's engagement party.
It should prove interesting.

Day 180

Today [Wednesday] was my mom's aunt's funeral.
I knew her real well.
But you know, it wasn't all that bad.
It's not so sad - I think I'll be fine.

You've just got to stand on your own two feet
Cause if a death can knock you down,
It would only take a life to get you back up.

Day 179

Do not restrain us.
